How much does a DFAT Authentication cost in Australia?

The cost to obtain an Authentication Certificate directly from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is currently $102. DFAT issues Authentications through the passport office in each Australia State and Territory capital city.

What is an Authentication?

DFAT Authentication is a specific type of certification issued by DFAT in Australia certifying that a document is either an original Australian government issued document or a document that has been notarised by a Notary Public. An Authentication confirms the authenticity of the document's signature, seal, or stamp and the authority of the person or organisation in Australia that issued it. DFAT will issue an Authentication for countries which are not members of the Apostille Convention i.e. United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Thailand, Jordan etc.
